Taking a class at the Paradise Theatre School, be prepared to step outside your comfort zone and discover a new you, reach out and touch your soul, be inspired long after the classes are over, It's not just a class, if you love Theatre, it's Paradise.

In the course of my professional training in NYC I studied with many renowned master teachers. Some offered effective methods, some excellent information or personal challenges, some a rigorous work environment. All valuable in themselves...but it was in Pattie's classes I found the ultimate combination of these and a unique synthesis of a highly supportive and focused environment with excellent information and method. Pattie's genius as a teacher is that she opens a corridor of doors (and always seem to have the key to a few more) but allows the choice and risk to be yours...autonomy that leads to actual integration and capability...the real gifts of a master teacher.

Treat yourself to an immersion of acting classes at The Paradise Theatre School under the exceptionally tutelage of Pattie and Erik Van Beuzekom.   Against a fascinating survey of theater’s classics and outstanding works, you are introduced to the many implements of the actor’s toolbox for developing and performing stage characters.   The experience is both kinetic and cerebral, with joy and high spirits to boot.   As a recently retired corporate professional who rarely used the right side of her brain, Paradise helped me to discover my playful and creative self.   Put the Paradise classes on your “must-do” list and see what you discover!

I consider myself to be an experienced performer. As such, I appreciate the acting class opportunities to hone and refine my craft. I was trained to always search deeper and discover new ways to express the scripted word, vocally and physically through continued education.  The Paradise is wonderfully safe place for beginners, and more than skilled enough to challenge a seasoned actor. I would encourage any theatre lover at whatever experience level to work with Pattie and Erik; the discovery process is positive and rewarding.

I could not wrap my mind around being able to get up in front of a crowd and perform without a script, but Pattie uses the frog technique in Improv class. She starts you out in cool water and slowly turns up the heat. Pretty soon you are in hot water and don't even know it. I have gained some very valuable skills while having a great time.

Going to class at the Paradise was the highlight of my week. I'd come home totally ecstatic. Throughout the week I'd tell my friends and family about everything we had learned, everything we were going to do in the next class, and how amazing Paradise was. I'm grateful for a safe, friendly environment with inspiring and talented teachers where I can explore all aspects of theater. A huge thank you to Pattie and Erik!

I have no illusions of becoming the next Simon, Stoppard, or Wasserstein. I joined The Paradise Theatre School writing classes because I enjoyed the plays Pattie and Erik have produced as well as written; both have oodles talent to share. I like their view of life. For me, at my age, it’s a matter of keeping my little “grey” cells active. The discipline of writing, the interaction with others having like interests, receiving significant feedback, not to forget learning the history of the theatre, and attending plays together -- oh, the list goes on -- are all reasons for my participation. It’s fun. Did I mention that?

In the past two years, I have attended sessions in playwriting and improvisation taught by Pattie Miles Van Beuzekom. Pattie and Erik Van Beuzekom have created a distinctive and independent vision.  As a student, I have the unique opportunity to forge my own theatre skills through unbiased support and unqualified encouragement.  I always look forward to each season’s new class offerings.

The writing classes with Paradise Theatre have been informative, challenging,  and well worth while.  The techniques described and practiced  have been presented in a professional and yet nonthreatening manner, which has been important for a novice playwright.  A great experience.

I have never really enjoyed the theater. I've always lived in big cities and going to the theater was like going to a sporting event for me - too many people, too far away and inaccessible.
When I retired and moved to Jefferson County, I tried my hand at several classes to see what might interest me. I was drawn to the Paradise by class schedule, really. An acting class fit my schedule. I'm brave; I tried it.
Well, that one class led to more acting, improv and writing classes. I LOVE the theater (I now frequently attend several in the area) and I especially love the Paradise Theater. The level of education and materials far surpassed any expectation I had. I'm in my second year of classes and I just finished being in my 3rd production at the Paradise.
Pattie is so welcoming, so well-informed, inclusive and supportive that participating in classes and productions alike is a joy. The classes start and end on time (!), they are well-organized and well taught. She knows her stuff and is passionate about sharing her love of theater with her students. If you are even thinking about taking a class, don't let anything stop you.

Dear Fellow Thespians and Afficionadas,
Pattie's improv classes are, first and foremost, FUN. They provide a framework for stretching one's own limits, breaking loose and exploring possibilities. The community, Pattie gathers, is collaborative in spirit and a privilege and joy to be part of.

Taking classes at the Paradise Theatre School is a unique and fun experience.. I learned so much more then just the subject matter.  Pattie & Erik are generous in sharing their expertise and knowledge.I immediately felt included into the Paradise troupe .
