WORKING ARTIST WORKOUT

Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:30-11:00am beginning Feb. 2.

Cost: $10 per class or a ten class punch card $80.

Instructor: Camille Hildebrandt

Beginning February 2, The Paradise Theatre School will offer movement workshops taught by Paradise Movement Director, Camille Hildebrandt.  Working Artist Workout offers invigorating and fun methods to establishing a personal somatic practice for unlocking and cultivating a creative state, finding source material, expanding range of motion and increasing articulation in expression.

Sessions will be tailored to participants and include a kinesthetic warm-up, vocal exercises, lead sensory-somatic explorations, skill building theater games, dynamic post-modern dance research forms and release and cool-down meditations. The artist will gain more access to sources of material and a finer articulation of expression with invigorating and fun methods for shaping up, both creatively and physically. A rigorously playful approach will be taken to investigate the cross-disciplines of sound and motion, writing, image-making and performing in both solo and group forms. Establishing a regular practice in a supportive environment will be encouraged for all levels.

Working Artist Workout is for writers, painters, musicians, as well as theater artists, anyone who uses their mind-body-imagination to create. Hildebrandt will cover somatic explorations in how the body serves as both matrix and vehicle in all forms of creative expression, and as key trigger to a creative state.

Learning how to begin from whatever state physically you find yourself in, we will gently expand our range of motion, gesture, heightened sensation, microscopic to macroscopic movement and investigating interdisciplinary scores. Methods for warm-up include, introduction to contact improvisation, authentic movement practice, Laban effort-shape, Alexander Technique body-mapping and post-modern dance scoring will be practiced with a focus on how movement augments and offers a foundation for other disciplines.

Camille Michele Hildebrandt has been studying contemplative dance forms for twenty-three years. Her professional dance training includes a B.F.A. in dance from The Juilliard School. She has performed and studied with Hanya Holm, Anna Sokolow, Kei Tai Kei, and Deborah Hay. For seven years she co-directed and performed with ParaTheatrical. Research of Seattle. Locally she has performed with Aum Butoh, Poetice Justice Theater Ensemble, Key City Public Theatre and The Paradise Theatre School.

Classes meet Tuesdays and Thursday beginning February 2 from 9:30–11:00 AM.  Cost is $10 per class or $80 for a 10-class punch card.  Please bring a towel or yoga mat, a water bottle, and warm comfortable layers of clothing you can move in.
